Miguel Vadillo started swimming at age 6 and swam competitively until after the Olympic trials in 1988 in Mexico. Miguel reached his swimming peak in 1988 at the Mexican Olympic qualifiers for Seoul. Changing gears, he got on a new path – modern pentathlon, and learned to ride horses, fence and pistol shoot. In 1989 he made the Mexican modern pentathlon national team.
As a swimmer and pentathlete, he has had the opportunity and privilege to compete in many international events at the higher levels: Central American championships and games, Latin countries’ Cups (similar to the Commonwealth games), Pan American Championships, World Cups and World Championships.
